"The Dao that can be told is not the eternal Dao"

Recently, on a visit to the Field Museum in Chicago I saw the following quote in the section that housed the Artifacts from China. This quote got me thinking, I hope it gets you thinking too.

"The Dao that can be told is not the eternal Dao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of Heaven and Earth.
The named is the mother of the ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one sees the manifestations.
These two spring from the same source but differ in name:
Together they are refered to as deep.
The deepest within the depths.
The gateway to all mystery."
